MUSYCA Sings at the 2026 Peabody Awards

MUSYCA Children's Choir was honored to perform at the 2026 Peabody Awards, one of the most prestigious celebrations of excellence in storytelling across television, podcasting, radio, digital media, and the arts.
Held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, the 86th Annual Peabody Awards brought together an extraordinary gathering of artists, journalists, creators, and cultural leaders to celebrate 34 award recipients whose work has informed, inspired, and influenced audiences around the world. Among the notable attendees and honorees were Ben Affleck, Jimmy Kimmel, Amy Poehler, Mandy Moore, Ethan Hawke, Yara Shahidi, Halle Bailey, Anthony Anderson, Michael Urie, David Muir, Marcia Gay Harden, Ike Barinholtz, Guillermo Rodriguez, Sterlin Harjo, and host Mo Amer.
As part of the ceremony, MUSYCA singers were featured in the presentation of the Peabody Institutional Award to PBS KIDS. The choir performed the beloved song “Won’t You Be My Neighbor,” celebrating the enduring legacy of educational programming and the values of kindness, empathy, and community that PBS KIDS has championed for generations. The performance received a standing ovation from the audience, creating one of the evening’s most memorable moments.
Following the performance, members of the choir introduced actress and singer Mandy Moore, who took the stage to help honor the children's media organization.
The evening also celebrated some of the most influential voices in media and entertainment. Amy Poehler received the Peabody Career Achievement Award, Sterlin Harjo was honored with the Trailblazer Award, James L. Brooks received the Industry Icon Award, and PBS KIDS was recognized with the Institutional Award.
MUSYCA's performance was coordinated by Dr. Anna Krendel, and the choir was prepared and conducted by Dr. Mikhail Shtangrud.

MUSYCA (Musical Youth of California) is a Los Angeles-based choral arts organization providing vocal training, musicianship education, and performance opportunities for young singers. The choir collaborates regularly with professional artists and participates in concerts, recordings, and community events throughout Southern California.
