Rainbow
by Brooke Josephson
Your lips might be smiling
But those baby blues don’t lie
It looks like a tornado
Is tearing you inside
I’ve seen you down before
But I never thought I’d hear
Your bestie said you smile too much
And find new friends as queer
Woah how I wish
This world weren’t full of hurting people, hurting people
Cause you’re a rainbow, a rainbow babe
And there’s no shame in shining when they rain on your parade
You’re a rainbow, can’t you see?
You’re a Rainbow to me
The saddest part is
Others true colors aren’t
A reflection of us
If they’re not cool with who they are
Sure my heart can handle
A multitude of sins
But it’s breaking to see someone
So beautiful, so broken
Woah how I wish
This world weren’t full of hurting people, hurting people
Cause you’re a rainbow, a rainbow babe
And there’s no shame in shining when they rain on your parade
You’re a rainbow, can’t you see?
You’re a Rainbow to me
Now whenever I meet a shamer
I remember my momma’s words
“tell ‘em
Who made you
Who made you
Who made you my mirror?
Who made you
Who made you
Who made you my mirror?
Who made you
Who made you
Who made you my mirror?”
Cause we’re a rainbow
A rainbow babe
And there’s no shame in shining
When they rain on our parade
We’re a rainbow
Can’t you see?
We’re a rainbow
A Rainbow
A rainbow babe
And there’s no shame in shining
When they rain on our parade
We’re a rainbow
Oh can’t you see?
We’re a rainbow
A Rainbow
A rainbow babe
And there’s no shame in shining
When they rain on our parade
We’re a rainbow
Oh can’t you see?
We’re a rainbow
To me
